I'm a humanistic psychotherapist with over fifteen years’ experience. My work focuses on helping people live more fully as themselves – moving beyond just functioning to flourishing: experiencing greater aliveness, connection and sense of possibility.

My work is relational and embodied. I draw on body sensations and felt experience as much as on the information and narratives held in the mind. I work mainly with individuals and occasionally with couples or family members. I offer clinical supervision and also run workshops for therapists to support them in shaping and realising their practices in the ways that best work for them.

I run regular online groups for people looking for connection, reflection and growth, but not necessarily therapy.

I am the creator of THE HOLISTIC LIFE REVIEW, a course suitable for anyone who wants to stop, reflect deeply on their life with structure and support, and move forward with greater clarity and purpose.

About Claire

Substack Writing

What started as a way to process and share the delights and challenges of moving for a sabbatical year in Melbourne has evolved into a written project of reflection and connection. Find out more...

Background

My background is in the arts. Originally a landscape architect, I've also worked as a garden designer, theatre designer and art director. I decided to become a psychotherapist after having my own therapy and discovering how transformative it was.

I am a partner, mother, stepmother, friend, occasional tango dancer, tantra practitioner, swimmer (and cold-water dipper), writer and comedy improv dabbler.

Experience

My experience includes working with anxiety, trauma, sexuality and relationship diversity; supporting cult survivors, military veterans and anyone exploring issues of identity (including gender, sexuality, race, neurodivergence), as well as supporting people through major life transitions.

I am particularly drawn to working with people who are motivated to seek change, especially during periods of transition.

Alongside my private practice, I have worked as a therapist within the NHS, the Youth Offending Service, for MIND, the City Literary Institute in London, Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, and as a clinical supervisor for Centre 33.

Training

I completed my original training at Spectrum Therapy in 2010, and have been accredited with the BACP since 2012. In 2020 I completed a full training as a Pesso Boyden practitioner, and in 2021 became a clinical supervisor. I have also completed in-depth relationship, and somatic-based trainings with both Jan Day and ISTA.

Since 2021 I have also offered coaching in addition to therapy, workshops and supervision. I regularly engage in continued professional and personal development trainings which inform, deepen and enrich my practice – and my life!

I was left with a new kind of inner resource, a sort of inner Claire-voice. It’s still working for me, and I shall always be grateful for it.

I just wanted to thank you again for the fabulous course. In deciding to join, I had a few misgivings about meeting online, but it worked well and I am so pleased I followed my instincts and said yes!

Claire challenged my thinking in a really gentle way, and the body work we did is something I still talk to friends about today. It was fascinating and made me aware of how self-compassion could lead to a healthier outlook on my life.

Today is publication day for my book, and I want to thank you for helping it into the world. Those sessions really helped clarify my ideas and focus my attention, as well as coming to terms again with myself and being able to write what I wanted to write. I'm very grateful.

Claire and I only met a handful of times, but the transformative impact of her therapeutic practice has been life-changing.
